Zahra Abouzied is currently pursuing a Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) at the Florida School of Professional Psychology (FSPP), focusing on becoming a licensed clinical psychologist for Middle-Eastern and Muslim Americans. She holds a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology from FSPP and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Florida. Zahra's extensive clinical training encompasses psychotherapy and diagnostic assessments for children to adults, addressing a range of issues from autism spectrum disorders to trauma. She has specialized training in the Gottman Method Couples Therapy and Maristan’s Suicide Response Training. Fluent in Arabic, Zahra is committed to promoting cultural competence and diversity in therapeutic settings. She has served as a graduate assistant for a diversity course for doctoral students, interned at Maristan, and helped develop educational programs for mental health in the Muslim community in Tampa, FL. As a co-author at Miami University’s Care, Affect, and Relationships Lab, Zahra researches the identity and ethnic socialization of Middle-Eastern/North-African Americans and its impact on mental health. Her passion for humanitarian work includes organizing and fundraising for displaced refugees in Jordan, stemming from her service trip with Helping Hand in 2020.
