Alyssa Kumalmaz graduated from Rutgers University with Bachelor’s degrees in History and Political Science and a minor in Biological Sciences. Previously, she completed internships with The Freedom Initiative (a D.C.-based nonprofit that advocates for political prisoners in the Middle East) and the Eagleton Institute of Politics and worked as a writing tutor. In her capacity as Staff Coordinator at Cornerstone, Alyssa is responsible for coordinating with refugee agencies, assisting with event planning and promotion, leading Cornerstone's internship program, and providing other forms of general administrative support as needed. Additionally, she also led the Refugee Resilience Trainer Team and Swahili Team as part of Cornerstone's 2024-2025 nationwide project with the International Rescue Committee (IRC). Alongside her role at Cornerstone, she is currently pursuing a Master of Public Policy.
