Dr. Phyo Ko Ko holds an MD, BS from the University of Medicine in Yangon and an MBA from the Edinburgh Business School. He began his career practicing medicine at charity clinics and training nurse aides at the Muslim Free Hospital, experiences that inspired his lifelong commitment to service.He later founded the Skill Aid Institute, a vocational training school that prepared students for careers in healthcare and facilitated thousands of job placements locally and abroad. For this work, he received the Social Entrepreneurship Award at the Myanmar Entrepreneurship Summit in 2018.
Dr. Ko Ko also provided his service to Cornerstone clients through the International Rescue Committee (IRC) partnership as a Burmese Interventionist and Presenter, mentoring families and guiding Burmese-speaking migrants through the challenges of resettlement, employment, and education. By drawing on his background in healthcare, vocational training, and entrepreneurship, he helped community members achieve improved mental wellness outcomes and long-term stability.
Today, he continues to assist Burmese refugees in their transitions into American society and brings this passion to Cornerstone as a Burmese-speaking Interventionist and Presenter, where he remains dedicated to ensuring that families have the tools, knowledge, and confidence to thrive.
