Dr. Shafiq Qureshi graduated from medical school in 2005 in Afghanistan. Following completion of his program, he worked for an HIV prevention and harm reduction program for injecting drug users in Afghanistan. Shafiq then joined the Fairfax County Government in 2016 and worked in different roles with the Department of Family Services, the Community Services Board (CSB) and the Department of Health. In his current role as a Community Health Specialist with the Fairfax County Health Department, he works to improve the residents’ health and overall quality of life through community outreach and engagement. Shafiq is a Qualified Mental Health Professional through the Virginia board of counseling, and he provides counseling services through the Assertive Community Treatment Program. At Cornerstone, he will be leading the Pashto intervention program through on-site workshops, virtual support groups, and intervention sessions.
