Sidra Afzal-Baqai completed her BA in Psychology, Communication, and Sociology, during which she studied for a period of time in Madinah where she received a diploma in Arabic from Jami Tayyiba. She recieved her diploma in Islamic Studies from AREES University, Malaysia. She recieved training and certifications in various wellness programs such as Mental Health First Aid, and is an advocate for wellbeing and mental health in her community. She has been an active volunteer in communities across New England, including The Selimeye Mosque, MCNA-YMj, and Iqra Academy through teaching Arabic, Quran, and Islamic Studies to students for the past 11 years. Sidra currently mentors & teaches young adults at Rihlatul Jannah Academy, an online Islamic Studies and Quran program for the youth that she founded. She is currently pursuing her Alimiyah Degree from Darul Uloom Online and her Master's degree in Islamic Psychology at the International Islamic University of Malaysia. She is focused on spiritually integrated and faith-based intervention by incorporating concepts from the Quran and Sunnah and postive Psychology for spiritual healing and well-being. She has been working at Cornerstone with women, teens and children since 2021.
